What We Offer

Connecticut Pistol Permit Course

This course, taught using Liberal Gun Club's curriculum, will provide the student with the fundamental skills and knowledge to safely and confidently handle, load, and shoot a firearm.

It fulfills the requirements of the State of Connecticut (including applicable State law supplemental instruction) to apply for your firearms permit.

The LGC Curriculum was approved by the State of Connecticut in June 2025 to serve as an alternative to the NRA or other courses as the educational component for the permit application process.

Post-Permit Course
(Intermediate)

After you have taken the required course for Connecticut (or many other states), there is a great deal of information and experience that you may not have.  You may not feel comfortable jumping straight to carrying, bringing a firearm into the home, or perhaps even making the decision regarding which firearm is best for you.

This course, offered both in a group setting and private/semi/small groups, can go a long way to answering those questions and guiding you towards making these important decisions in a safe and informed manner.

This class is still beginner friendly, and those who have never set foot on the range other than their permit class might want to start here instead of jumping into the more advanced courses.

We will start in the classroom, reviewing safety and basic firearms handling, and then the leading types of popular firearms choices available.  We will then take a few of those options to the range and further develop your comfort and skills as appropriate to the individual.

Concealed Carry Course

This course introduces the concepts and skills required to safely and effectively carry a pistol for personal protection.

Over a few hours of classroom and range instruction, this course offers a fantastic introduction to the fundamental skills required to carry a firearm.

A client should have their firearm with them for this course, and be already proficient in loading, unloading, manipulating, and firing it.

If the client already has a holster, they should bring it to the class, and we will work up to drawing from the holster gradually.  We will then start with dry-fire practice before moving to the range for live-fire from the holster.

Children’s Firearms & Safety Fundamentals

This course introduces younger students to firearm safety, and how to keep themselves and others safe should they find themselves in the presence of a firearm.

Focus of the class is to ensure a young person understands the fundamental safety rules around firearms, what to do if they encounter a firearm at a friend’s house or in public, and steps to take to minimize the chances of a tragic outcome.

With professional instruction, children’s initial exposure (and how to treat a firearm) is critical, rather than learning unsafe habits from a friend or television.

Depending on age, and with parental consent, a live-fire portion of the class can be arranged to expose the student to the operation of a firearm.
